Over the past few days our New Zealand winter has been hit with a 'once in a lifetime polar blast' which has left snow falling everywhere - even in the most unusual places, including Wellington which is at sea level! Apparently the last time it snowed here was over a century ago so everyone is pretty excited! I must say i am enjoying the cosy nights in with the heater on, good friends, yummy dinners and red wine. Oh and hot water bottle always in hand :)

Here is my the final for one of my projects from last semester - i called it 'OH HELLO'. It's a tactile design conference for 2012... I tried to make it playful by making all the title type out of sprinkles :)

Oh hello! I made these titles a few months ago as a typographic element of a graphics assignment.

The brief was to create a design conference and design the poster and booklet to advertise it. So here are some of the guest speakers for my conference, who are also some of my favourite designers /directors /typographers /photographers. This ended up being such a fun project, although a little stressful ... i am wondering whether i should upload the final booklet i designed also? Would anyone be interested in seeing it?

Hello fellow bloggers. Some pictures from a beach trip my boyfriend and i made last week... It's a beautiful beach hidden away in a rural area of northland. Vehicle access is limited so we doubled on his motorbike and managed to find a pretty spot on the sand dunes to eat our picnic. I've been on holiday for over a week now and it is ssooooo nice to have some time to just relax and go adventuring! (So yes, for those who were wondering from my last post, i managed to survive the last few crazy weeks before semester break at uni! Thank you for your encouragement). So now that i have a month worth of holidays and part time work, i'm hoping to post a wee bit more. I've been looking though meowmeow tonight and I've realized how much I've slowly slipped away from blogging... and i miss it!

I think i have and perhaps always will struggle to find the time to do it, but i do love finding and sharing beautiful things on here... if there are still any readers who haven't given up on this blog, hello! Keep coming back, I hope to share with you alot more in the near future! xo

I have been listening to these boys a lot lately... even after all these years, to me there is nothing that compares to their music! What gorgeous lyrics and clever melodies. Oh Audrey.

From what i've seen and heard, she really was a fair lady in every way.

I managed to break my wrist last week... doing something fairly risky i suppose. And now, post surgery, i am kind of still a bit spaced out by it. I feel like i'm in limbo, unsure of how to react. It throws a whole lot of plans for the next few month out the window which is really frustrating, not to mention the small everyday things i love to do that are near impossible without my right hand... like playing guitar or taking a photograph. To not be able to write by hand or draw!!

But then, maybe this has helped awaken a new fresh motivation for other new ideas?

Sometimes it's hard to know what to write on this thing... I took these pictures a few weeks ago , i was hanging out the washing

and suddenly the evening light was just so incredible, i had to dash inside and get my camera. Although what i saw was so

much more beautiful than how the pictures show - I often think about how it would be theee coolest thing if you could take

photos with your eyes... if somehow your eyes (being the most incredible lense ever) could be a camera!

Some days are just different. Good different. As in kinda incredible. They don't come around too often for me, but today was definitely of those days. I feel like I've never really properly introduced myself on here, but today's happenings have sparked a new attitude.

SO... did you know that I am from New Zealand? That i live on a small farm with a most beautiful family? That i get so overwhelmed with inspiration from all sorts of places in this world... my eyes always feel like they are drinking in each and every place, searching out and finding such beauty! Life seems crazy right now, but crazy is good. good - crazy. oooh my favourite op shop/ 2nd hand market is on tomorrow, yay for wednesday!! hopefully this means lots of cheap and amazing things (clothes, furniture, ornaments, allsorts) to add to my already bursting-at-the-seams collection. i love old things!

I hope this post finds you all just splended in a beautiful morning!

I don't know where I've been... but I'm back!

Wow what an absence. The days gone by have been so lovely, free and exciting... although i feel there is so much i want to do at the moment that it is a tad overwhelming! Like on the outside it may seem as though i am lazy and unproductive, but really it feels like the outcome of my brain spinning on the inside, so many thoughts and ideas! Where do i start?

At long last i am able to share these pics from an Open Mic Night that I was asked to design around a month ago... I wanted to create a handmade but fresh kind of look for the posters, so i hand-coloured white marker on translucent paper, using a 3D typeface. These posters were hung around campus in windows and glass doors, they looked extra cool with the sun shining through them!

Next up i bought 2nd hand sheets and tablecloths of a cute vintage red and blue. I used this to made flags to hang in and around the stage... it was time consuming, but overall pretty easy - i'm totally going to make more one day using other cool material for some other event!

On the night we hung up the flags and decorated the stage with old vintage lamps. It made for a beautiful scene for lots of very talented people to perform. A special thanks to Harsh for taking pictures on the night!

Well done Mr Lagerfield... I'm not usually one to dote on latest catwalk collections, but I couldn't resist the latest from Chanel! The pastels and the bows, so cute and feminine.

My posting seems to have become few and far between lately, mainly because i'm still kinda working this baby out and don't know what to say... i want to write, but what exactly? It's a strange sort of muddle to be in, not sure of how much of myself to give away... is there anyone else with this dilema? Imagine finding places like these... secret places, ruins. Once lived in and marvelled, then one day left and forgotten. I find these types of places so beautiful and sad at the same time. How could a structure so beautiful be forgotten and left to ruin?

A long weekend

It was a lovely time spent with friends and family doing a mixture of things. Scoring so many cute wee this-and thats from some local saturday morning garage sales, trying to sort out the jungle that is my wardrobe, listening to some new vinyls, watching movies and coffee with friends and making some smoochy packages for certain people ;)

A pretty leisurely day: I found this wee darling at a garage sale this morning... how could I resist it!? Then I made lemon tarts, and (after burning the tops once and making new ones) settled into some afternoon catching-up-on-all-sorts in the sunshine (which was lovely as the sunshine made itself fairly scarce during the week).

I've come to realise that I am getting a bit too fussy about my posts, and holding back from posting... not because i don't want to but because I've been feeling really uninspired lately. I have to get up and over this massive hill of 'uninspiration' somehow, and the best way i think would be to just dive into it... So I will try to post at least once everyday of next week to try and get over it! Hopefully that might help.

How do you overcome creative blocks?

Oh no! I took these pics a few months back for a friend who's using them for a hairdressing competition... Spent quite a few hours editing them, only to find out on the day that the printer was printing them out blurred and speckled?! So in the end we had to use and submit for judging the unedited copies - which are quite ugly in comparison. :( I feel like posting the edited finals on here is necessary to make me feel better - at least someone is seeing what they're supposed to look like!

They are very plain and minimal, (which is what she wanted) but they show off some cool hair don't you think? I'm especially swooning over the dusty pink/violet highlights...

P.S if your after some real eye candy, you should

Stills from the movie 'Cat On A Hot Tin Roof' (1958). Pretty much the entire movie is filmed and takes place in one house and revolves around a family fighting over their inheritance. I might've found it slightly boring if it wern't for the lovely Liz Taylor, who looks like a goddess in creams and reds, and later on in a pretty white frock... the overall look of the film is so suave, you can't really keep your eyes off it! I mean, look at that bed!

I love old hollywood classics...

This year i have started watching some. Any more suggestions?

Slowly collecting little treasures in my room... there are a few blazers i found on my way home from a road trip a few weeks ago, aren't they cute! Hopefully somewhere in the near future I will be putting up a floral feature wall too.

So i kinda have a crazy fetish for old envelopes... my poppa collects envelopes and airline tickets (his house has been jam-packed since forever) and i think it may have subconciously rubbed off on me. Actually, i have an obsession with packaging in general, especially parcels and brown paper bags - oh there is nothing more exciting than recieving a brown paper package tied up with string! Some of you may have seen this little series by Emily Wren a million times already, but I can't help it - I have to post them. Aren't they breathtakingly beautiful? I don't think I could ever grow tired of looking at them; the light, the shadows, the baby blues, whimsy long hair and the blooming cherry blossoms... you can check out her wonderful works here.

I made this wee book for my sister Loulou as a christmas present last year...

I love books, and making my own brings me so much joy. So i've been thinking about maybe starting up a little shop making custom-made books! This one took ages, but only because i collected special pictures over time and spent alot of money on colour copying and glueing.

Or I would also love to do little quarterly zines for people, using my favourite pictures and perhaps even other peoples works (with their permission of course), which could be a cool way of promoting their talent...

Yaaay. I am now the lucky owner of a darling little telephone just like this one!

I found it dirty and disregarded in the garage of the house I am looking after at the moment. The owner straight away said take it, she thinks it's just an old piece of junk... Isn't it amazing how one mans absolute trash is another mans absolute tresure? I often think of all the amazing old things that no one knows about that must be stored in old peoples' garages, and then thrown away once they are gone.

we have moved house hence the long-standing silence...

Horay, a new room freshly painted. Decorating has been fun! My sister and I also travelled down south 7hrs to the deepest darkest depths of the country to stay in our old farmhouse for awhile - it's in the middle of nowhere, so the time spent was very quiet and relaxing. Also made some excellent buys at 2nd-hand shops along the way, will post soon. This weekend was filled helping with the 48hr film festival... It's a NZ competition where registered film groups around the country are given 48 hours to complete a short film including a random theme, character, line and prop... it was mental and we were up all night. But I loved it! Our team made a 1920's Humphrey Bogart looking movie in an old house that I am sitting at the moment. i can't wait until we are allowed to view our film in the heats... woo woo

Wahoo, so I totally surprised myself by getting this baby started last night... it has been on my never-ending to-do list forever. I think I've been putting if off because (a) i put off a lot of things but mostly (b) because I look at so many beautiful blogs that have been going for ages with so many beautiful things and so many followers and I wonder how mine could ever get there. BUT everything has a beginning. Everything.

And besides, this is merely for me as a creative output. Although it would be great to get some followers and encouragement, it is early days and i think those are the wrong reasons to be blogging! A bit deep for a second post... hehe oh well.

These are from a wee while back - a cute cafe, Offbeat Originals tucked away one of the many vintage alleyways of Wellington. LOVING the tupperware display.
